VISION 2020 ASIA
"Where there is no vision the people perish."

Dear Friends of Christ: January 2002

Greetings in our Lord’s wonderful name.  We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very blessed, healthy and prosperous New Year.   As we reflect upon our Lord’s blessings in this past year we give thanks for the following:
§Our first Center of Evangelism opened its doors in Sikkim, India under the competent direction of our missionaries Athem & Indu Khyiang.  Our center at Sikkim is strategically located near the borders of Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet.
§Athem & Indu gave birth to their first child, Grace.  Let us give thanks for this precious addition to our family.
§Brother Leon Peninger and I had the wonderful joy of traveling twice to India in February and September, 2001.
§We give thanks for God’s wonderful safety on both trips.  In February we arrived in India just after the devastating earthquake in Ghujurat.  In September we were in a village preaching the Gospel when the terrible September 11th attack took place.  God’s wonderful leading and protection were evident.  On both occasions we were able to successfully fulfill our mission goals and return home safely in spite of the satanic opposition.
§In spite of the worsening economy we have been able to fulfill all of our financial obligations in 2001.
§Joanne and I became the proud grandparents of our third grandchild.  On October 9th our daughter Tammy gave birth to our grandson Zachary Christian pictured above with our family.
§In September when in India with Pastor Mani Leon and I had the wonderful joy and privilege of inaugurating the first floor of the new Bible College Seminary at Eluru.
§We give thanks for the many souls that we have seen born again through our ministries both in the United States and India.  Just a few weeks ago Leon and I conducted our usual monthly service at the Greenville rescue mission.  Over ten men made decisions, nine of which came forward to make a public profession.
§I thank God for sending the Bill Brown Family this year to oversee the bus ministry at Morningside and help share this outreach responsibility enabling me to give more time to other responsibilities.
§God is blessing our burden for the Asian community.  He has sent us three very faithful Burmese children to ride our bus. They have also become involved in our AWANA program thanks to Mr. Bill Brown’s caring & sacrificial spirit.
§This year we had the joy of seeing our first Spanish convert from our bus ministry. Raphael has recently been baptized and he has been going out with us weekly on our Saturday bus visitation as well as attending our Saturday Retirement home ministry when he is able to do so.  I recently learned that Raphael came to the US seeking political asylum.  He is from the country of Colombia. Please pray for Raphael.
§ I cannot help but give thanks to our great God for each of you who have so faithfully supported and prayed for our ministry Vision2020Asia.

We are greatly looking forward to all that God is going to do in this coming year 2002. We have some BIG goals for Vision2020.  As God enables you please continue to pray for and support this very needy ministry that is committed to sharing the Gospel with all the peoples living within the 10/40 Window, which includes over two-thirds of the present earths population. Approximately 70% of these people are under the age of 35.  Prior to 2000 less than 1% of all mission monies were spent to reach these billions of perishing souls.  It is estimated that 95% of these people have never heard a clear presentation of the true Gospel of Christ. Vision2020Asia is committed to use every available resource to reaching these masses of humanity for whom Christ died.  We have a very strategic and methodical plan to reach these millions of perishing souls by the year 2020. Our vision is founded upon the Word of God in Acts 20:20-21 and based upon Christ’s own example in Luke 5:1-14.  If you have not committed financially to helping us would you prayerfully consider doing so above your regular giving to your local church this coming year?   The need is so great. God has promised a special blessing to those who help the poor, Isaiah 58:6-11. May God richly bless you and your family in this New Year. Please find our upcoming trip itinerary enclosed. Please pray for us as we seek to do the Lord’s will in spite of the present dangers.

Yours for the souls of Asia,

Brother Jim Starr, Coordinator
